Better Baby Care Indiana
A statewide effort to improve the care of infants and toddlers

Infant and toddler child care is a special kind of care that takes a caregiver with knowledge about the importance of forming relationships with not only the child but the families as well.

For Indiana’s Families, Child Care Providers and Communities: Better Baby Care Indiana (BBCI) is part of a national movement to improve child care environments and support systems for parents and caregivers of infants and toddlers by promoting  the healthy development of infants, toddlers and their families. The Better Baby Care Indiana project delivers services statewide through the use of 9 infant/toddler specialists, one in each of the local child care resource and referral (CCR&R) agencies. The infant/toddler specialists provide services to families, child care providers, and the community.

Families of infants and toddlers are offered an enhanced child care referral service by the local child care resource and referral agency.  The infant/toddler specialist provides families with specialized information regarding quality infant/toddler care and individualized on-going support to meet their needs as they search for child care. Services for families at the local child care resource and referral agency also include trainings on specific infant/toddler needs and specialized resources.
